Does a valid warranty cover a cracked screen?

It is notoriously difficult to prove that a crack is the result of a manufacturing or material defect. As such, screen damage is often excluded from warranty claims.


The standard Apple warranty generally does not provide cover for screen damage. If you opted to purchase AppleCare+ (an insurance product) when you originally purchased your iPad, then you might use one of your two “damage incidents”.


With AppleCare+, your iPad would be replaced with a reconditioned iPad of the same model and specification - for a small excess/deductible charge.


Without the benefit of AppleCare+, a screen repair is expensive - typically c.60% of the “as new” cost of your iPad:
