Macbook Air wifi set-up

When setting up Wi-Fi network with a new MacBook Air, should I be doing this with the network that I will most commonly use for the machine? I’ve purchased a new Mac while away from home and wonder if I should be setting it up with a Wi-Fi network I will rarely if ever use.
