Disabling Sidebar in Safari

How do I disable the sidebar on my iMac when I'm hovering my mouse on the left screen. It gets really annoying when I'm trying to work and I never found it useful to me it just gets in the way every single time. I literally tried for hours looking in settings in my Mac and in safari, looking up videos to help me, but I can't find anything. please help.
