iPod classic won’t sync

I just joined iTunes but can’t get new music purchased to sync to the iPod classic. Converted new music to a AC file but still will not sync

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Thank you for the info on Finder! It appeared to sync but only lasted for a few seconds and nothing was transferred to my iPod. Ended up dragging and dropping onto iPod in the iTunes app. Seems to have worked. I love my iPod Classic and am thrilled to have use of it once more.

Maybe you can try to perform a soft reset on your iPod. This can refresh your hardware and reactive your device. If this doesn't work, you can try connecting your iPod with your computer, launching iTunes, then clicking on the "Restore" in iTunes. This will erase everything from your iPod and install new firmware on your device.

If none of them works, I guess Apple has disabled the sync between iPod and iTunes. In that case, your last resort is to ask the Apple technician for help.

Finder is used to add content to devices in macOS 10.15 Catalina or later. Windows and macOS 10.14 Mojave and earlier still use iTunes. It sounds like you're manually managing content with iTunes now. See Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer - Apple Support if you want to switch to syncing with selected playlists etc.

Thanks. I did those things prior to asking for help. That's how I lost all my music. Ended up dragging artists to the iPod in iTunes. Seems to have worked, and yes, it appears Apple has disabled the sync function. Why? It's a great product, the iPod. Again, thanks so much for your help!
