Rogue "Find My" alert in the middle of the night.

My phone sounded the "Find My" phone alert this morning at 2:10 AM. (!) Time verified in the email that was sent. Only 3 of us have devices that can use this app on our family account, and all were asleep, all our devices plugged in and charging and not doing anything else. None of us sent this "Find My" phone request.

Needless to say, this quite interrupted our sound sleep.

How could this have happened? How can I prevent it from disrupting our sleep again?

Thanks.

Hello there cjbg1,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We can understand the concern with this Find My alert you received, and we're happy to help. So that we can provide the best info as to what have triggered this, we'll need a few more details. What was the specific Find My alert? Was it for an unknown device, a located Apple accessory, or one of the devices on your Family Sharing account? Get back to us with this info, and we can go from there.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Have a great day!

karina184,

Thanks for replying.

The device that sounded the alert was my iPhone XS. It is one of several devices (iPhones, iPads, apple watch, laptop, and desktop macs) on our Family Sharing account. The phone was in our bedroom that night (I don't always charge it there, but I do often enough). My husband's phone was also in that room, and the remaining devices were elsewhere in the house. All three people in the house were asleep at the time. (Moreover, my son does not know how to request this alert, even when he is awake.)

The email I received at 2:10 AM (MST) from email.apple.com said the following

"A sound was played on cjbgFeb2019phone.

A sound was played on cjbgFeb2019phone at 1:10 AM PST on February 12, 2022."

Since we were all asleep, I cannot conceive of what device could have instigated this alert, or, if an alert was set off by one of us when we were awake why it did not sound until 2:10 AM.

I'd obviously like to prevent this from happening again, or at the very least, have the alert not go off while I'm sleeping, without preventing other critical calls or alarms from getting through (e.g., a reverse 911 call, a tornado warning, etc.).

Is that the information you need? I've listed everything I can think of, unless you need something more specific (or private).

Thanks.
