It sounds like you're having some difficulty with using closed captions when using AirPlay from your MacBook. We can help.

Thnx. Will check out. However, I am not using air play. Have Samsung smart tv- had to log in directly for set up to hbo max on laptop computer for ATT "TV- HBO MAX" - Heard HBO Max had sound quality issues and DEFINTIELY NEED TO CHANGE TO BASE AND TREBLE but ... it's grayed out and states "unavailable" in settings.
BUT, I can't get CC to work on within the Samsung TV settings - thinking maybe there is a "back door" going thru my computer that I logged on with!? . Make sense at all? that there might be another avenue to get closed caption besides the TV's settings?
There may be be something within that HBO sight you recommended. We will comb thru the entire linked site .

Originally, when we read "I can't get from sign on w/ laptop onto TV screen" we took that to mean the you were accessing the HBO app on the MacBook and displaying it on a TV. Now that you've cleared up that the issue is instead with the HBO app on your Samsung smart TV, our recommendation would be to still try the steps in the article linked above, but additionally to check out Samsung's article: Closed captions and other accessibility settings for your Samsung TV.
If you find that you continue to run into difficulty, or need additional assistance you may need to reach out to these developers directly, as Apple doesn't own or directly support either the HBO app or Samsung TVs, and has no additional information about using HBO on a Samsung TV.
