Final cut is not letting me change the resolution for sharing on FB or YT, it insists on 640x480 which is pretty miserable on a big screen. Is there a way to change that?

As suspected the frame size is very small.

You can easily change the frame size of your project by clicking the Modify button and choosing a larger size, but before you do that…

What is your media? I suggest you use a project frame size that matches your media. Select one of your clips and see what you have in the info tab of the Inspector about frame size and frame rate. If your clips are, for example, 1920x1080, you should edit at that size.
