Sidecar function with charging

I have iPad Pro (3rd gen) and iMac (2020). I usually use the sidecar function with these devices. With the genuine cable (type C to type C) connecting to thunder bolt, iPad seems not to be charged although sidecar is available while connecting with the cable. I tried another one, which is to use type C to type A. In this case, iPad can be charged and available to use sidecar.

Also, I tried to reboot iPad before sidecar, then iPad can be charged and available to use sidecar.

What should I do to fix this problem?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 15

Hey there yoichi32,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're having issues with your iPad not charging when being used with SideCar on your iMac, and we'd be happy to provide you with the best information.

Just to confirm, if you connect your iPad to your iMac with the USB-C cable that came with your iPad without using Sidecar, does your iPad charge as expected? Also, we'd like to have you test the issue in safe mode using the steps listed in this link here: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Safe mode can help you to determine whether an issue is caused by software that loads as your Mac starts up.

Keep us updated with the results.

Take care!
