Micheal kors darci 5e 1653 worked on my old apple phone but not on 12 pro max

After I upgraded my phone to 12 pro max my watch doesn’t work. I have uninstalled wear os several times. I have toggled back and forth and I have done a factory reset on the watch. This is a 350 dollar watch thay I only got to use for about month then I upgraded and it doesn’t work now! Any suggestions. I keep reading apple needs to do an update so these watches work and won’t. Is that true and I am now out 350 dollars?
