AirPods are connected but playing music through my pc

Based on your description, it sounds like Spotify isn't recognizing your AirPods. Do your AirPods work without issue as well when you connect them to other devices outside of your PC? If so, you'll want to focus the troubleshooting being isolated to Spotify on your PC.

Are you using a Spotify application on your PC? Or, are you accessing Spotify through the web browser? Try both if you can to help isolate it further, if there is an app available for PC offered.

If your AirPods are working fine otherwise and with all other devices too, we wouldn't suggest needing to reset them because they're not seeming to be the issue here. We suggest trying some steps we found in the Spotify support pages below. Looks like they suggest a few helpful steps including unpairing the AirPods from your PC/Spotify, and pairing as new again:
