Syncing my music library between devices

I've deleted a bunch of stuff from playlists in music and want to sync the changes to my phone. I followed the instructions I found on support.apple.com, but "sync library" is gray. My husband set up Apple Music Family plan. Is that causing problems with syncing to my phone? I have the option to "sync library on my phone, just not on my Mac.

You need to be signed into your Apple ID and your computer must be authorized for your Apple ID. You should then be able to Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music - Apple Support.
