Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
I have over 22,000 tracks in my iTunes library - all of which are dated by year - so I can choose, when I want to, to play songs from a particular year. That option has now mysteriously disappeared and I cannot seem to find a way to get it back. Why does Apple seemingly and randomly decide to change options?

Thanks - but that doesn't work as I no longer get a 'year' column option. I haven't done anything to my computer so am completely mystified as to why it has happened. I am using iTunes 12.8. Do I need to update this?
Thanks. I've done that and it has seemed to resolve the issue. However, the 'year' column did not immediately reappear in my iTunes. I had to go to 'View' then 'Show View Options' and then check the year box. Maybe I only needed to do this last time but I thought I had tried all available choices. Maybe not. Anyway, it's now operational again. Thanks for your comments.
Use the Songs view. Enable the Year column.

You can try reinstalling iTunes. You should be able to reinstall over the top of your current copy without affecting your library.
