User Name or Password incorrect "imap.aol.com"

See my earlier post- same thing happened to me last month - wasted several hrs with tech support both apple and aol- problem self- corrected after 4 hrs- mine worked last pm still not working today

I am also having the same problem w/my Iphone. It's very frustrating! I've deleted and added, even changed the password. UGH!

Same thing has now happened to me!

Last night 8/7 reset my AOL account password using the AOL software on my MPB and I have been able to use my MPB to send and receive email. But, NOT AOLWebmail through AOL.COM!

This morning I was unable to send or receive mail on my both my iPhone 3GS and on my iPad!!

Any suggestions?!?!?

Extremely annoying. Since the new OS was installed it has slowly been happening more and more. Today it finally says wrong name/password every time i go to check my mail. Curiously, it started happening right after my support plan expired..weird.. I logged in from my computer and there was no problem, as I expected. I have been using the same information since the first day I got the phone. Deleted the account and added it back.. still doesn't work. Reset the phone several times as well...still does it.

im having the same problem as of this morning and have done all the same steps...delete the account, add the account, reset the phone and changed password. i am able to send but not receive. My aol works on my pc and my other email accounts work on the phone

I am having the same problem on only one of my AOL accounts. Have deleted and recreated still no good. I can send email from the account but unable to retrieve anything on this one email. Thinking this muts be an AOL server problem. Interestingly I am able to access all my accounts on my desktop but only directly at aol.com not through the Mac Mail app.

I am having the same issue, I woke up this morning to check my email, it said my email and password were incorrect so right away I thought my email got hacked into. Right away I reset my password and deleted the account, did a soft reset on my phone and then tried to add the account again, yet I was told the same thing. I then went on to my iPad and check my aol mail on there and it gave me the same error message! I called aol and it's not a problem with them because I am still able to log into my aol account using the web browser and log into aim.

Someone please help??????

Yes I seem to be having the same problem since 8 this morning. And I too have done it all. Delete account, reset network connections, reset settings, and restored my iPhone 4 and nothing seems to be working. But this issue is only with my aol. I have no problems with my gmail or yahoo accounts! What is going on with aol?!?!?

Yes I am only having this issue with AOL not my other accounts. AOL said it's not on their end because you can still go onto safari or any other engine search go to aol.com and log into your account.

I got the same thing this morning, I tried all of these above delete and recreate and still same problem, however i was able to send an email, but it says incorrect username or password.

I'm having the same problem too! Ever since this morning... I've done everything I can! Rebooted, deleted and re-created accounts, but it's still not working! I have the 3GS and it's fairly new; this is the first time this has happened. Someone help!

Same thing happened to me yesterday. I reset my PWD on my AOL account and deleted and recreated the mail account on my iPhone and it has been working. However, this morning my wife's phone started to do the same thing but the fix did not do the trick. We are still looking for a solution.

Wait all of this is happening to everyone today? Cuz like I woke up at 12 and checked my aol.com mail on my itouch and it was fine.. then like 30 min. later it said wrong username or password? But my other aol.com account was working? Weird..

problem is not with iphone but with aol. they're having problems (can't even open aol.com since yesterday). hopefully it will get fixed soon and things will go back to normal.
