Epson 3880 Drivers fail installation (Monterey)

I have been trying to install the latest driver files from Epson for my Stylus Pro 3880. Every time I get to the end with the message installation failed. The latest file from Epson is SP3880_1090_AM.dmg and it is stated to be supported on Monterey.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try booting to Safe Mode. That boot up takes minutes and clears caches and other things that may resolve your problem.

Try installing Safe Mode.

Next would be to contact Epson. The date of the drivers is

Printer Driver v10.90

12/08/2069.2 MBSP3880_1090_AM.dmg

and really may not be compatible with Monterey.
