Audio pausing when connecting to wi-fi

I have scoured youtube, reddit, google, and the discussions pages for months now to no avail. I live on a college campus with a wi-fi network that has a massive range. I’ll leave my dorm to go to the cafeteria and I’ll be listening to a podcast, youtube, nexflix, etc. with no issues. I eat and walk back to my dorm. When I walk through the front door my audio pauses as my phone reconnects to the wi-fi. It’s not a brief skip or an interruption in the transmission. My phone fully pauses whatever audio is playing as if I hit a button and then it lowers the volume in a manner similar to disconnecting my AirPods. My bluetooth setting are fine. I don’t hear the disconnect tone that plays in my AirPods when I turn off bluetooth. This is totally jarring and pressing the button on the stems of my AirPods does not resume the audio. I have to take my phone out of my pocket and push the play button. This may seem trivial but as a student I am constantly coming and going from my dorm so this is becoming a huge nuisance.

Hey there signetjoker,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. If this is happening only at a specific location every time, there may be something causing interference. The steps in the following links provide more info on this and give info on how you can reduce this interference:

Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

If the sound from your wireless headphones cuts out or is distorted

Take care.
