XCode does not start on MacBook Air 16/512

Yesterday I bought a MacBook, downloaded Xcode from the AppStore and tried to launch the application. The icon jumps into the Dock for quite a long time and soon freezes, and XCode does not start. What am I doing wrong and how to run XCode?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.0

Hi! Yes, that is exactly the way how you should do it. Was the app completely downloaded? Downloading Xcode and installing the app from the AppStore takes some time - be patient. What does the status in the AppStore app say? Does it say "OPEN"? Another option would be to try launching Xcode from the command line in the Terminal.app. You can launch the app with the following command:

$ /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode

This will print out lots of information in the terminal window where you might find a reason for your launch problem. Best of luck!
