How does Apple's IWeb app work and does it cost to use it?

I have an old IWeb app on my laptop that I've never used and I'm thinking of setting up my own website. Does it cost to use this program and do you just have to publish the site when it is ready, or are there other things you have to have in place before it will be up and running?

iWeb is free to use. What system do you have on your laptop? iWeb is a 32 bit app and won't run on Catalina or newer systems. a You'll need a hosting provider to house your site.

However, iWeb was discontinued about 9 years ago and does not use the latest HTML protocols which make sites more efficient today.

You would be best served by getting a new website creation app. There are many out there in the App Store. One that many have migrated to is EverWeb which has a GUI very much like iWeb. It has a demo version that will let you create and test websites before publishing. You just can publish or save it out of EverWeb. Also you don't need to use EverWeb's hosting service if you don't want to.

In order to have your site on the iterenet you need to house it on a hosting server. There are many, many out there, some free but add advertising to each webpage. You'll have to do a search for web hosting.

It's best you google for 32 vs 64 bit apps and what's the difference. If you use the free app GO64

you can see which of your apps are 32 and won't worth with Catalina and newer systems and which are 64.
