Automatic updates not working

I’m running the the new iPad Pro with the latest update, have the settings on automatic updates and still I have to do it manually. It’s not a big deal really, I just forget and then a few months go by and I have heaps of updates.

so, why despite all the right settings isn’t it doing itself?
