audio broken, how to discover?

Dear all,

On a Macbook 2017 I have no sound. Even the bluetooth headset I own and that works nicely with an iPad & and iPhone is not recognized. So I get the impression it is rather a problem of software than one of hardware. However, a factory reset and reinstall did not solve it.

Any ideas on how to get at more information about the sound than via the preferences?

Best,

Wolfgang

Assuming you've confirmed sound and BT are turned on, it sounds like a hardware problem. For this you need to have Apple evaluate it. A free diagnostic is available at Apple stores.

Or, you can try this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202731
