If I download music tracks from a CD, using the external Apple "super drive", to Music and then to a flash drive, will I lose any quality along the way?

No. When you rip the CD, choose one of the lossless formats (WAV, AIFF, or Apple Lossless), which will retain the audio quality of the CD. And when you copy a file, as from a hard drive to a flash drive, the copy will have the same quality as the original.

You can use MP3 if you want, but that changes the answer to your question "will I lose any quality along the way?" MP3 is a lossy format.
