Person on the call hears me repeating the same word over and over

Hello,

I've had a strange issue when using FaceTime, Whatsapp or Google Meet on my Macbook Air M1 for the last month.

As the conversation starts, the person hear the first word I said repeated over and over again, as if I had frozen. If we hang up and call each other back, the repeating voice issue continues (with the sound bite from the first call!). And again, and again.

I am usure, but it might only happen when using my Macbook in clamshell mode with my LG Monitor. It stops and resets if I unplug the monitor and plug it in again.

It happens once every five calls (more or less).

I always use a headset, so I wouldn't know if it happens without, but it doesn't seem to matter whether I use a wired headset or a bluetooth headset.

Your help will be much appreciated.

Thank you!

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

From your post we understand that when you make video calls you notice an audio issue. Let's see how we can help. You mentioned that you use and external display while your MacBook Air is closed when this happens. The first step would be to test it without the display connected. This will help isolate the behavior. Also, create a new administrator account to test with. This step will help with determining if the issue only occurs with one user account. Here's how: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.
