Stolen iPhone

Hi my iPhone 11 was stolen while I was on holiday. It says erase pending but is showing up at an address on find my iphone every couple of hours in the same town. I have reported it to the police but don’t think they have done anything. I have also cancelled the SIM card. My questions are how can they use the phone and it be linked to an address if it’s not connected to the internet or a network? Can they access any of my data? Is there anything else I can do to disable or recover the phone?

No. Putting in a new SIM will not provide access. Your phone is inaccessible. The pending request is likely because the device hasn’t been online long enough. So long as you followed the steps in the support article, there is nothing else to do.

Thanks but that doesn’t seem to answer my question. How are they still able to use my phone?

They cannot access the phone unless you did not have a passcode or it was easily guessed.

Ok thanks for your reply. Possibly easily guessed. If so, why would the erase still be pending? If they have put a new SIM card in will they be able to access any of my stuff?
