loop when signing in to Itunes & App Store

Anyone out there know how to solve a problem with signing in?


In the password sign in window, whenever i enter my details the window disappears, and then reappears empty a few seconds later the same sign in box reappears empty with another prompt.

I know my ID is correct as I *** log in to iCloud with no problems.

I noticed the problem today and I hadn't changed any details. I have several devices - a MacMini, iMac, and laptop, all with different OS versions, and the problem is the same across all machines - this suggests the problem is not attached to my hardware but maybe with a server or files on the apple servers. Advise so far from Apple advisors is to set up a new user and try again, but the problem persists. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks.

I am experiencing similar problems on my iMac running macOS 11.6.4.


Attempting to access App Store Account Details using the "View Information" link brings up this dialog:

After entering the correct Apple ID, and entering the password in the subsequent password dialog, the Sign In dialog returns without action.


The same thing happens when trying to access my account using the Music App.


I am able to use my up-to-date iPad/iPhone to access account details.


I have restarted the computer/tried a Safe Boot/signed out/in on both applications/used iPhone Hot Spot without success.

Seems to be solved on my machines this afternoon.

Had a number of calls / messages with different levels of advisor today and not sure if they did anything, or it's just a coincidence. First machine sign-in worked on again is 2019 Imac with Catalina.


I had previously tried changing DNS and it made no difference, so reverted to original DNS settings on my router.

One thing I noticed that I hadn't seen before is my router now uses IPv6 and seems to have been changed automatically by my internet provider (not sure exactly when). Whether or not this might have been part of the problem I have no idea.
