Why is there an option to notify me anyway when my phone is on do not disturb?

How does iPhone decide who can see that your phone is in do not disturb mode via text messages? Why is there an option to notify me anyway when the phone is silenced?

Not all iPhones users in my contacts can see that my phone is in don not disturb mode and I don’t understand why?

iPhone 12, iOS 15

Hi, Ljc1216, and thanks for reaching out. We see you have some concerns about the Focus feature on your iPhone. We'll be glad to assist.

We see you came from Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

As far as who can and can't see that you have notifications silenced, it may be in relation to the other people's iOS version. If they're on an older version, it may not show as it does within iOS 15. It will also only work for iOS devices using the Messages app.

We hope that clears things up for you.

Cheers.
