Copy and Paste not working between Macs

Until recently I've been able to copy and paste between all of my Apple devices. Now, I'm having issues. I have two Macs in my home environment on the same network. Let's call them Mac1 and Mac2. I can copy something on Mac2 and successfully paste it to Mac1. However, I cannot do that from Mac1 to Mac2. I can copy something from Mac1 to my iPhone ( on the same network) and paste it to Mac2. I have rebooted both Macs and I have killed the pboard app and nothing will allow this to work. Both Mac's are running the latest version of Monterey. Any thoughts? Thanx...

So, I finally just contacted Apple and I got the issue fixed. What fixed it was signing out of Apple ID on both Macs and then signing back in. Now everything works as before. Thanx for everyone's input.

You do not clarify the exact year macs involved here beyond "iMac Line (2012 and Later) "

Does your issue hold true with iOS devices as well... this may be a clue.

On the older devices I found the Continuity/&Airdrop feature was always a bit finicky, ie sometimes it worked, some times it did not, with no explanation as to to why...

Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod ...

The Mac's sit approximately 1 foot from each other. I do have bluetooth enabled and Allow Handoff enabled. Neither of them are on Wifi, but they are both on the same wired network and that same LAN is also what my iPhone is on. I have confirmed that they are both signed into iCloud with the same ID and that iCloud is correctly working on both Macs. And this is the same setup they were using when this was all working as it should. Plus I can copy and paste from one Mac to the iPhone and then from the iPhone to the other Mac just fine. And as noted in my original port, I can copy and paste from the Mac2 to the Mac1, just not the other direction.

As a test I activated WiFi on both Macs and that didn't solve anything.

In my original post, Mac1 is a 2013 Mac Pro and Mac2 is a 2017 iMac.
