Could someone use my Apple ID without me knowing?

Hello, few years ago when I was a young kid. My friend wanted my iPod, so I decided to give it to him. Since I’m getting a phone. The only thing I did was sign out my Apple ID from it. I didn’t reset the device what I was supposed to do. My biggest worry is that there’s a chance it still receives my past text messages and photos. Without me knowing. The iPod isn’t listed under my device and I change password year ago. Should I be still worry?

p.s. my friend and I haven’t talk in a while. So i have no clue how to contact him.

If you signed out of your Apple ID on the iPod, the iPod isn't listed under your devices, and you changed the Apple ID password, the iPod shouldn't be receiving text messages or photos. Since you didn't erase the iPod, your friend may be able to see messages and photos that were on the iPod when you gave it to them.
