The iPad cable melted in the socket over night.

So this happened last night.

This iPad is maybe 1 year old.

I plugged it in to recharge. Original cable.

We had no power surge or anything happen that I know of. No other appliance is affected.

I smelt something, when looking I found the iPad. The plug was melted and burnt in the iPad.

The iPad is of course no longer chargeable as it melted in. I feel it could have set the house on fire. Now what do I do? This cannot be normal and it terrifies me. This is 600 dollars down the drain. Now what?
