Is there a way to use QuickTime player without Apple TV opening up? Screen Time does not allow you to stop Apple TV from popping up because you can't set it for zero seconds. So, is there another way to play a video without Apple TV opening, or is downloading a 3rd party app the only real solution?

The TV app could open for file extensions associated with that app. If you assign “.mp4”, “.m4v”, or “.mov” to the TV app, then double-clicking such a file would open the TV app. To assign “.mp4”, “.m4v”, or “.mov” to QuickTime Player, set a new default. Get Info on your media file, Open with <select different app>, Change All. To open a file in a specific app, drag-and-drop the file icon onto the app icon. To open a file from within a specific app, use the File﹥Open menu.
