Music app Shuffle randomly stops shuffling

I upgraded to a 2020 mac mini M1, currently running OS 12.2.1, but every since I got it a couple of months ago, when I put the Music app in Shuffle mode (for all songs, not albums or groupings, which includes thousands and thousands of individual songs) within a half hour to an hour it stops shuffling of its own accord and goes into playing the song catalogue in alphabetic order from the song that it decided to stop shuffling on. This is super annoying, as I have to then re-establish shuffle mode manually every time it does this. Is there a fix for this? I've searched for hours and turned up nothing useful on any forum out there, including this one. The only entry about it here that started to get addressed, iTunes Shuffle Randomly Stops Shuffling - Apple Community, got ghosted before any real resolution was posted.

First, start your computer in safe mode and attempt to duplicate the issue here: How to use safe mode on your Mac. Safe mode runs some checks on your system during boot, and disables certain third party apps and services that may interfere with the normal performance of your computer. Sometimes, booting to safe mode alone will resolve an issue.


If the issue persists in safe mode, the next step is to see if it occurs in a brand new user account: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. If it does not, this indicates there is something within your user account causing the issue. This could be startup/login items, specific settings or extensions that are active, or other software you use.
