Is there a way to prevent your child from deleting texts from their phone?

My son is new to iPhone and although I trust him and most of his friends, it's a tricky age and at times, I would like to see what he is texting. He shows me willingly BUT I have no idea if he deleted texts right? Is there a way to prevent children deleting texts? If not, c'mon Apple, this is a basic parent monitoring safety measure we should have....thanks.
