How to mark and cut the end a GarageBand on imac

Yikes. I can't find a purple triangle or whatever I was supposed to use to mark/edit the end of a song I'm recording on GarageBand. The file just continues playing on and on, ad infinitum even though there is no more sound left on the song itself. I figured out how to do this once before but don't remember it or see how to do this in the manual. I have a song. I want to end the file. But GarageBand keeps playing. What to do? Will appreciate your help. I'm using GarageBand 11 on an imac desktop. Thanks.

After a half hour of tying this and that, I was able to end the song when the song should end at the 74 measure bar instead of it playing ad infinitum. After several times, of fast forwarding, best I could to reach the end, I found the not purple, just regular white triangle pointing left at marked the end of the file -- at measure 7500 or something. So I could move that triangle back to 74 and get the end. Really frustrating. Apple, you guys and the guys who write manuals and tips could make this easier. Especially, if there was a command that took you to the end of the file (measure 7500 in my case) so I could access the triangle I need to edit the song. Hope this helps ease the burden of others who face this issue.
