Inside camera works with Facetime only and no other applications

macOs Monterey and a MacBook Air M1, 2020

I tried QuickTime player:

new video recording, select FaceTime camera HD from control menu, the camera light lits but the video window remains black.

Same behavior running iMovie: import new media.

In Preferences:

Screen time is not activated.

Security&Privacy :

iMovie is allowed to use the camera, QuickTime Player not shown in the app list.

Apple apps do not show in the Camera Privacy Preference pane. I only have an external camera and opened Quicktime and clicked on Record a new Movie, and selected my camera the camera worked. Quicktime is o showing in Camera Privacity pane.

Try booting to Safe Mode. That boot up takes minutes and clears caches and other things that may resolve your problem.

A lot of times just boot to Safe Mode followed by normal boot resolves problems.
