Monterey Migration Assistant Time Machine transfer failing

Trying to transfer data to new M1 (2021, 14", with Admin rights) from my own Time Machine backup

  1. connect Time Machine HD, connects successfully and recognized as TM volume
  2. Launch Migration Assistant
  3. Warning about closing apps, press Continue
  4. Admin password prompt, enter successfully
  5. Closing apps and logging out...
  6. "Setting up..." for 5 minutes or so
  7. Logs out
  8. Login prompt (company/okta login form)
    1. tried okta login
    2. tried local login
    3. tried "revert to mac os login"
  9. Successfully logs in, acts as if Migration Assistant has never been run

Never presented with list of sources, i.e., old mac, time machine, etc.

Also, weirdly, can't run Migration Assistant from terminal because nothing in my Utilities folder is accessible from my command line. The Utilities folder looks empty even when running `sudo ls`

Time machine backup was forged on a 2020 mbp 13" running Catalina.

Any insight will be most helpful. Thx!

If this machine is bound to some enterprise network <Login prompt (company/okta login form)> I would contact your IT department/business for support here....

When reinstalling Mac OS/transferring/migrating —

When you activate the OS, the Mac will check with Apple activation servers and if it is a corporate owned device, it will flag you to enter the admin/IT/user credentials in order to finish.
