Cancel appointment in iCloud calendar
I cannot cancel daily meeting in my iCloud calendar?

There isn't a functionality for an automatic cancellation alert by choosing an option saying 'Cancelled', but you can edit the title of the meeting by adding - Cancelled. The edit should be sent to invited participants.
Or just delete the event, which should also trigger alerts. I've never wanted events in my calendar which are surplus to requirements.
