problems with apple watch set up?

I’m trying to set up my apple watch and it is wanting me to use an Apple ID that DOES NOT exist anymore!! Meaning I can’t even use it to log into my phone which I have seen be the solution for similar problems. There is no way that I see to change this on the watch, please help!!
