Air drop not working

Why does my airdrop from my iPhone XR says unable to share. Please try again later.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you're having issues using AirDrop between your iPhone XR and a MacBook Air. We'll do our best to help out.


For issues using AirDrop, confirm you're using these steps to share it: Use AirDrop on iPhone to send items to nearby devices


We'd Restart your iPhone and try again.


If it persists after those steps, then we'd check if this only happens with this specific file. Are you able to share other content with the MacBook Air?

I have been having the same problem since iOS 15.x.x update. I normally enjoy dropping files, pictures using AirDrop but it has been giving me the same dialog and I went to Apple Store Genius Bar where they told me to reset the phone to factory setting and set it up as new without the personal data. WTH I would rather email the **** to myself and save it that way on the second device. Does anyone have any solution to this?

Also, I am beginning to suspect the files are geofenced or protected from being shared somehow by a bug!
