PNC bank app not working

The PNC mobile app that allowed me to pay checks in remotely has been updated and is no longer compatible with my iPhone 6. PNC Bank tell me Apple did something last week where I now have to download a new app version but it's incompatible, so I'm stuck in a loop where the new app won't download because it requires a newer ios than iPhone 6 will accept. Phone banking therefore now unavailable to me. Is Apple aware and will they tweak the system to allow me to continue to use the older app? PNC say this is what's required.

As I wrote above, that's not what PNC are saying. After consultation with the relevant departmental head at PNC they told me it is entirely down to Apple, not PNC in any way, shape or form. PNC say they have asked Apple to make the older version available, but they're not cooperating... which is why I'm here, in the hope that the right and left hand will sort the problem together.

Of course it's not what PNC said. That doesn't mean I'm wrong.

PNC Bank now requires iOS 13 or later, rendering your device unable to use their software. The latest your device supports is iOS 12.5.5. Many apps may continue to provide support to older devices through older versions of their apps, however, banks often require the most recent version of their app for security reasons. Your device model is 7.5 years old and cannot support the newer apps. Unfortunately, you will need to find a new bank, deal with not being able to use the mobile banking app, or get a newer device.

Thanks but the problem could be sorted by Apple simply allowing last week's app version to continue to work. I believe it's an oversight rather than a security issue since until recently they allowed the option to "continue with existing version", which is what I still want to do. PNC say that would be fine as far as they're concerned, but Apple are not cooperating with them. If it's not an oversight then I have to think it's deliberate obsolescence.

It is the app developer that determines if older versions of their app will continue to be made available. As noted above, banks usually do not allow that for security reasons. Apple can no more require PNC to continue offering an older version of the app than Ford can make gas stations sell leaded gas.
