iMovie installation on old MacBook

I have iMovie on my iPad (version 13.4.1), and I want to install it on my old MacBook (version 10.1.9).

Since I have iMovie on my iPad (that shares the same apple ID as my MacBook), shouldn't iMovie appear on my MacBook's purchased apps on app store? As I believe that was supposed to be the only way for me to install iMovie on an older version of MacBook.

iMovie for iPad and iMovie for Mac are two completely different apps. Having the iPad app would not make it appear on your purchases list for iMovie for Mac.

If you've checked your purchases in the app store for iMovie for Mac, and it isn't there, that would indicate that you would not be able to obtain iMovie 10 on your old Mac. You would have had to have had iMovie 10 on your old Mac at some point in time in order for it to show on your purchases. It would show even if you had deleted it.
