Hey OhCuriousOne,

It appears that you're wondering why your MacBook Air won't update to macOS Catalina 10.15.7. We have to be honest, we don't have a clue either, but we're glad to help you update your Mac.

About macOS Recovery on Intel-based Mac computers - Apple Support -- Restart your Mac in macOS Recovery and see if you're able to update.

How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support -- You can also try updating in safe mode as well. Please be aware: "When you start up in safe mode, your Mac prevents some software, such as startup items, from loading, and it performs a check of your startup disk. Your Mac may take longer to start up because of the check."

Please let us know the results when you're able by replying to this post. Include any pertinent information that could be helpful when you initially tried updating your Mac.

All the best.
