No longer getting news alerts from any app

I have an iPhone 8 running ios15.2.1. I also have an Apple Watch Series 7. I just now realized it, but I haven't been receiving news alerts from any app, like Washington Post, CNN, NYT or Apple News for quite some time. I made sure notifications were turned on in settings and in the apps themselves. I made sure Focus was off as well. The news alerts just stopped coming in, and I've done nothing to disable them or turn them off, and there seems to be nothing I can do to get them back again. I'm stuck.

The first suggestion would be to update to iOS 15.3.1:

The next (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

How to restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup just created. This should result in no loss of data. It deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.
