Linest Quadratic Fit

I have been trying to do a quadratic fit using LINEST, and cannot find any examples of its use. For excel, It seems you can do it this way (htthttps://www.statology.org/excel-polynomial-fit/), LINEST(X_VARS, YVARS^{1,2,3}) and then index through the coefficients.

If anyone could share an example of the syntax here, I would be very grateful!

It is not as concise in Numbers. I think you meant LINEST(Y, X^{1,2,3}). Y comes first. That is what I am going with in the example below

In Numbers you have to create columns for X^2 and X^3 and use INDEX to get the additional statistics from LINEST. Using example data from a site online:

Formulas:

G2 =INDEX(LINEST(C,D:F,TRUE,TRUE),1,1)

G3 =INDEX(LINEST(C,D:F,TRUE,TRUE),1,2)

G4 =INDEX(LINEST(C,D:F,TRUE,TRUE),1,3)

G5 =INDEX(LINEST(C,D:F,TRUE,TRUE),1,4)
