Convert pst file to mbox

You will need a third-party ($$) solution to do the mail conversion. There are no built-in macOS tools to do this for you.

Open the Mac App Store, and search for pst to eml. That will reveal PST Converter Pro, which I have no personal experience with, and the application has 7 ratings averaging 4.9/5.0. Caveat Emptor, and ideally, the vendor will have a demo version on their website to try before you purchase.

The manual process to convert PST to MBOX is free.

Step 1: Import Outlook PST email to the Gmail account.

Step 2: Export Gmail emails to the MBOX format using the Google Takeout feature.

For Step 1:

• Enable IMAP in Gmail Account.
• Configure Gmail account with Outlook using IMAP
• Create a New Folder in Outlook and import Emails.
• Open and Gmail account and find PST emails.

For Step 2:



Use Google Takeout to export the imported PST items into MBOX format. Google takeout export Gmail emails into MBOX format. So, you will get your imported emails into MBOX format. So simple.
