how to change apple ID email when I don't know the email password?

I made my apple ID wayyyy back so I currently use the email I made in, like, 6th grade, and I have no clue what the password is. I'd like to change it to a different email so that if anything goes wrong I have access to my apple id through email, instead of all alerts going to a random email that was created a long time ago.

is there any way to change the Apple ID's email without giving the current email password?

If you forgot the Apple ID (iCloud) password, enter the Apple (iCloud) ID, and click Forgot Password. See if you can get a Rescue or Notification email option if necessary. Link to contact Apple Support at the end of the 2nd article.
