iPhone 13 camera operation
I set my camera on Photo but the actual photo comes back as a video (mov.) file. How do I change this?

Check to see if Live photos is turned on.

You are using Live Photo. Turn it off as described toward the bottom here.
If you forgot your iPad passcode - Apple Support
Then set Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings > Live Photo to “On”.
