What happens if I'm not home when my AirPods arrive?

Check the details in the shipping notice. Apple usually requires a signature, but you can potentially ask the carrier to not require the signature, or to hold the delivery at their depot and you can pick up from there.

You’ll get the shipping notice when the item ships.

The notice will mention whether or not a signature is required.

If a signature is required, the notice will provide you with options that will indemnify the carrier from losses, if they leave the package without a signature and it gets stolen.

If the carrier offers to hold the shipment at their depot—most do—they’ll provide the location of the depot.

This will usually be contained in the shipping notice, with links to the carrier’s website for details and changes.

Based on Personal Experience:

When delivered, and I'm not home, my products have always been left with a slip at the front door, informing me to go to the distribution center to pick these up. It is for Security purposes, and the choice is made on Apple's part demand.

If you are in the US they are not requiring signatures and will usually leave your package at your door due to the pandemic.
