iPad Widget showing recently watched videos.

A large widget showed up on my iPad Home Screen a while back after an update. It has the Apple TV logo in the upper right corner and icons of recently watched videos. (I’d include a screenshot here but here I can’t figure out how to do that.) It looks like it should allow you to tap a video and open the appropriate app and watch it. I’ve tried tapping it every way I can think of and nothing happens. What is it for and how does it work?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 15

Hello Mjalderman,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, you have a widget that isn't working on your iPad. We'll do our best to help out.

It sounds like you are referring to the 'Up Next' in the Apple TV app using a widget. You can edit the widget using: Use widgets on your iPad

If you can't click and open the Apple TV app, it may be that the provider of the content doesn't have an app on your device. It could also mean there is an issue with the widget itself. We'd remove the Apple TV app from the widget. Then Restart your iPhone and add it back.

Should it persist, do other apps work inside of the widget? Are you able to remove the widget altogether and add it again?

Hoping to hear back, take care.

Hey Mjalderman,

You're welcome for the reply. If you tap on the existing widget on the Home Screen, then tap 'Edit Home Screen'. It should make the apps wiggle. You should also have the option to '+' or add a widget to the Home Screen on the top left side of the screen. Scroll down to the Apple TV option and swipe to the right to see the different widget options. The last option would be the largest widget showing more than four options to select. Is this the widget you were originally using? If so, you can tap 'Add Widget' to add it to your Home Screen.

Wishing you well, cheers.

Thank you for your response. I tried deleting the widget and restarting my iPad. I found two Apple TV widgets, one shows the last thing I watched and one shows the last three things. I added them both to my widget list. Neither one has as many videos listed as the one I deleted and they don’t reside on the desktop, they are on the widget list/menu when I swipe right. Taping on a video opens the Apple TV app with the video at the top and taping in that opens the app and starts the video. I think they will be handy. I haven’t found an app or widget like the one I deleted, but since it didn’t really do anything and took up a lot of real estate on my desktop it’s no great loss. I am rather mystified by it and would be interested if anyone else has had a similar experience. Again, thank you for your help.
