Continuous Black Screen of Death on Iphone 12 Pro Max

Hello, I work for a media company and my Iphone is a very big part of my job for creating content. I have had my Iphone 12 Pro Max for quite awhile now and it was working fine until about five months ago when I first got the Black Loading Screen. At first I didn't think much of it, maybe it was an update issue or glitch but as time went on I started picking up on things. It tends to freeze on me mostly when I am in my camera. Not as much camera apps as using the base camera app built in. I prefer the built in one compared to others including but not limited to DSLR+ or apps like Snapchat. Anyways, I'll be taking photos/videos and sometimes it'll freeze in the process of the shoot and I'll lose all the content I had collected up to that point and sometimes it'll freeze around an hour after the shoot and I'll still lose everything. It has costed me both a lot of time and money having to reshoot. Thankfully we have other Sony cameras that we use more than the phone but the phones are great while in the field and you can't worry about changing lenses.

To sum it all up, I've been continuously getting the Black Loading Screen of Death for around 5-6 months. Mostly while in my built in camera app, and when it happens I lost a lot of content (photos and videos) which I recorded on my phone. I am asking if I can get a replacement or if this is an issue with many people and I just need to look at getting a different phone in general...?

Thank you for taking your time and reading what I had to say!

Welcome RJ,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, your iPhone camera freezes and reboots unexpectedly.

We'd check if you have available iPhone storage. This explains how: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If not, we'd create some room using section, 'Use recommendations to optimize storage'.

If that's not the issue, it sounds like you may have a hardware issue with the camera.

We'd recommend contacting Apple Support to run a diagnostic and confirm: Get Support

Or you could bring it in for an inspection: iPhone Repair and Service

Get prepared for your visit: Get your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch ready for service

Select your region and search nearby for locations: Find Locations

Due to the current conditions around the world, some stores may have limited hours or appointment times. They also may require specific things to visit them (Such as, scheduling an appointment, wearing a mask, calling to check-in, etc.).

Hoping this helps out, take care.
