How do I enable the keyboard to be shown on screen? I had it once and it disappeared iMac desktop

Hello, I once had a keyboard on my screen that I was able to use ALL THE LETTERS AS MY KEYBOARD HAS A DYSFUNCTION IN EVERYTHING ON THE RIGHT SIDE PAST “O” I AM trying to figure out how to get it back as I am unable to iMessage, email or even save a contact with the info filled out

Go to System Preferences>Keyboard>Show input menu in menu bar. Then g to menu bar and select the keyboard. You can then select Show emoji and symbols and Keyboard Viewer. Keyboard Viewer shows which keys depressed.
