Apple iPad Pro early model A1652 And the Apple Pencil

I bought my iPad Pro early on When it was first Released. It has the model number printed as A1652 on the back and I spent like $1100. I am now considering an Apple Pencil. Is the Apple Pencil 2 appropriate or do I need to buy the Apple Pencil 1? Of course based on the reviews I’d rather have the generation 2 pencil? my Apple iPad Pro is still phenomenal so I have no intention to replace it yet because of the current cost of the better models. Will it work? It is my understanding that charging is more of a challenge with the older iPad Pro. But others say no problem. I want to buy immediately. Please respond. Thank you

I already saw that it says iPad Pro 12.9 inch but there’s some confusion over whether mine is still too early a model. For instance Amazon says 12.9 inch generation three and above but mine seems to be an earlier generation one or two based on the model number I listed. I asked this question because there is much confusion. While I appreciate it your response did little to clear it up. Still hoping someone can shed some light. Thank you!
