iPhone lost photos after sync

I synced my iPhone with a new Macbook without making a backup and I lost a bunch of photos. The issue is - I kept my 2010-2017 photos since they were backed up with iCloud and were in my Photos app, I lost my 2018-2019 photos but I kept the 2020-2022 ones even though they weren't backed up anywhere.

So what caused the 2018-2019 photos to be lost, why didn't it happen to the 2020-2022 ones and is there any way to recover the losses?

Hey there, alex199322!

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities! If we understand correctly, you're missing photos from a specific date range after syncing your iPhone with a new Mac. Let's take a look at this together!

We recommend using the resource below to help determine if the photos might be in the Recently Deleted folder, or they might be used with another Apple ID:

It's possible the photos were saved to the device itself instead of iCloud. If that's the case, then there wouldn't be a way to recover these photos without the device present.

Take care!
